History

The old Baptist Church in Tunbridge Street

The Margaret River Montessori School was founded in 1992 by Dianne Littlewood and Sue Gaunt. As teachers and young mothers they shared a vision of a school that would nurture the emotional, psychological and academic development of children in a stimulating and child friendly environment.

Their initial chat over a cuppa quickly led to some serious research which led to Di and Sue choosing the highly comprehensive educational system developed by Doctor Maria Montessori.

The school opened it’s doors on 8th February 1993
with an initial enrolment of 6 students with a further 15 due to commence in the following
