National Summit

Recently I returned from the heart of Australia which played host to the MAF National Summit for Montessori Independent Schools Australia (MISA). The purpose of the Summit was to bring Australian Montessori Schools together to discuss future directions for Montessori to ensure a collective and collaborative view of what this looks like. The MAF Strategic Plan is due for review and the outcomes of this Summit will drive the goals set for the new MAF Strategic Plan which will take us to 2020.  Megan Tyne, Executive Director of MAF, reminded us of MAF’s ultimate goal that Montessori will be a self-regulating system educating 15% of children in Australia by 2057. Also they have launched their new website. Please have a look at www.montessori.org.au . The result of the Summit was much motivation and inspiration to bring back to our schools in all of the above discussed areas, as well as a strong vision for a co-created, unconstrained future for Australian Montessori Schools. Being involved in the MAF Strategic Planning process has been perfect timing for our School Council which is collectively going through the same process right now.  Lisa Fenton, Principalsummit-photo
