At Margaret River Montessori School, we believe Montessori education offers children a strong foundation for lifelong learning, independence and wellbeing. Across our two campuses, students are supported through a continuous educational journey from early childhood through to adolescence.
We encourage families to take the time to explore the many resources available to develop a deeper understanding of our School and the Montessori Method. This may include reviewing information on our website, attending school tours or information sessions, requesting curriculum or program information, and engaging with the resources we provide about our philosophy, programs and community expectations. The order in which families choose to enquire, research, apply and tour may vary depending on their familiarity with Montessori education or with our School.
Applications for enrolment are submitted with the understanding that families have taken the time to familiarise themselves with the School’s processes, resources, personnel and information, including the current Enrolment Guide and current Fee Schedule.
Our Bush Babes Playgroup operates during the school term for children aged 0–3 years.
Please see our Bush Babes webpage for further information regarding the application process and program information as Bush Babes maintains a separate application process and waitlist.
Understanding the Application Journey
We are currently welcoming enquiries and applications across all year groups for families wishing to join our waitlist and be considered for future placement opportunities. While some entry points experience stronger demand than others, we encourage families interested in Montessori education to place themselves into consideration should opportunities arise.
Every family’s application journey looks slightly different, and progression through the process may vary depending on cohort requirements, timing and individual circumstances. Some stages of the application process are available only following application submission, by invitation, or as required during cohort planning and application review processes.
As part of the application journey, families may:
School Tours, Information Sessions & Classroom Observations
Families applying for Year 6 and below are asked to attend tours of both the Primary School and Adolescent Program Campuses. While visiting the Adolescent Program may feel far in advance for younger families, this helps develop an understanding of the full Montessori pathway at MRMS. Families applying for Year 7 onwards are only required to tour the Adolescent Program Campus.
Throughout the year, the School may also offer additional information sessions designed to support families at various stages of the enquiry and application journey. These sessions are created to address common information gaps and provide families with further insight into Montessori education, child development, classroom expectations, transitions and School programs. We understand that families come to Montessori with varying levels of knowledge and experience, and not every family will feel they require these sessions.
For more information regarding upcoming tours and information sessions, please visit our Tours & Information Sessions webpage.
Families applying for the Primary School are also asked to participate in classroom observations. These “fly-on-the-wall” observations provide parents and guardians with an opportunity to experience the Montessori environment in action. Observation places are limited and families with active applications are prioritised. To book an observation, please contact our Enrolments Officer using the details at the end of this page.
Inclusive & Adjusted Education
Children may require additional or adjusted educational support for a wide range of reasons. This may include learning differences, disabilities, developmental or behavioural needs, giftedness, advanced academic abilities, social or emotional support needs, or being twice exceptional (2e). Additional steps may form part of the application and admission process to ensure families receive clear and accurate information regarding the support options available within the School environment. Families are encouraged to discuss these needs with the Enrolments Officer early within the enquiry or application process.
Waitlist Information
Due to confidentiality and the complexity of application and cohort planning decisions, we are unable to provide specific information regarding waitlist position or waitlist length. Placement on the waitlist does not indicate an offer of a place.
Placement offers are made at the discretion of the Principal following careful and considered review of each application. Placement decisions and cohort planning are based on a range of factors which are outlined further within our Enrolment Guide.
Families on the waitlist will be contacted periodically to participate in application reviews, audits, surveys or requests for updated documentation to ensure applications remain current and active.
Progression through the application process is not strictly linear and may vary significantly between applications depending on cohort needs and placement availability.
Placement Availability, Offers & Admission
When placement availability arises, families will be contacted and provided with a formal Letter of Offer and Welcome Pack containing admission documentation, fee information and orientation details. To secure the offered place, all required documentation and payment of the Placement Fee must be returned within the specified timeframe.
If placement is not available at the requested entry point, families may be invited to remain on the waitlist and participate in future application reviews or cohort planning processes.
While we endeavour to provide application outcomes as early as possible, the dynamic nature of application reviews and cohort planning means that notice of placement availability or non-availability may occur as late as the term prior to commencement.
